Overview
The Brown Spine Research Lab is an active research group that focuses on clinical, medicolegal, and basic science aspects of spine surgery. Dr. Daniels is the Lab Director, and works closely with his student and resident team to draw clinically important data from large National and International data sets.
Dr. Daniels' team is also active with studies examining patients treated locally, with studies evaluating detailed patient characteristics and outcomes. Finally, the Spine Research Lab completes work on spinal biomechanics, spinal implant technology, prevention of complications following surgery, and correction of complex spinal deformity.
Dr. Daniels mentors many Brown undergraduate students, medical students, and residents in performing research studies. The team has received multiple awards. He and his team have published over 220 peer-reviewed articles, 200 national and international research posters/presentations, and has edited 4 orthopedic education textbooks.
Alan H. Daniels, MD is a spine surgeon who specializes in complex spinal disorders. He serves as the Chief of the Adult Spinal Deformity Service at Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital. He is also the Director of Spine Surgery Research, and Co-Director of the Brown Spine Surgery Fellowship.
