Why did you choose Brown?
I wanted a program that had 4 things: a strong operative experience and high volume of trauma, a good educational structure, the ability to be actively involved in research, and most importantly to feel like the group of residents I was joining was close inside and outside the hospital. I was blown away by all of these aspects when looking at Brown. The trauma fellowship only added to my love of the program, and I felt that this program would best prepare me for whatever I chose to do in orthopedics going forward.
What do you like about Providence/Rhode Island?
Since moving here, I’ve discovered how underrated Providence and Rhode Island are. There is amazing food, good craft beer, multiple quality beaches that are a quick drive, and really good golfing. I think it’s the perfect place to live as a resident as it’s big enough that it has everything you could want in a city but also is not so big that the cost of living and getting around is difficult.
What are your goals for the future?
I will be pursuing a spine surgery fellowship with the goal of staying in academic medicine.
