The Department of Orthopaedics recently celebrated its graduating residents during a special ceremony at the Rhode Island Country Club, bringing together faculty, residents, fellows, staff, alumni, family, and friends to recognize the Class of 2026 and their outstanding accomplishments.
The evening also honored Dr. Edward Akelman as he steps down as Chair of the Department after more than a decade of exceptional leadership. Throughout his tenure, Dr. Akelman advanced the department's clinical, educational, and research missions while fostering a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and excellence.
The celebration featured heartfelt tributes from colleagues, former trainees, and staff, recognizing Dr. Akelman's lasting impact on the department and generations of orthopaedic surgeons.
