The Haffenreffer Family House Staff Excellence Awards program was first held in 1946 and has been offered annually since 1967. Thanks to the generosity of the Haffenreffer Family, the program provides scholarships to residents and/or fellows in recognition of their outstanding performance. Candidates are nominated by Program Directors or Department Chairs and selected by a special review committee.  This year one of our chief residents, Nicholas Lemme, was chosen as one of the recipients of this award, his outstanding performance as a house officer resulted in this honor, which is accompanied by a cash gift made possible by the generosity of the Haffenreffer family.
