Dr. Eberson heads to Honduras for spine mission

Craig Eberson, M.D. took part in a pediatric orthopaedic spine surgery mission to the Ruth Paz Foundation Hospital in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, February 6-11, 2023, with The World Pediatric Project. Dr. Eberson was able to help perform 10 scoliosis surgeries, as well as coordinate spine care for roughly 50 patients from the region. Several children with fractures were also cared for during the trip.

Working with a team of American surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and electrophysiologists, as well as the local Honduran team, the group was able to perform multiple surgeries per day, as well as identify children who would benefit from surgery on future trips. Dr. Eberson was able to practice his Spanish, and usually his New Jersey/ Rhode Island accent when speaking that language was enough to make even the most serious little patient laugh.

It was truly a life-changing experience to be able to participate in the care of these amazing patients.
